KAI Sekimagoroku Mokuren Petty 150mm Stainless Three-Layer Steel

What is Sekimagoroku (Seki-Mago-Roku)
The origin of Seki-Kaji dates back to the Kamakura period, when swordsmiths who had moved from Kyushu to what is now Seki City, Gifu Prefecture (Mino) began making swords in this region blessed with high-quality clay, water and charcoal. Many renowned blades were born here, and the master craftsman "Seki-no-Magoroku" devised a distinctive method of sword making, producing supreme works of art that were beautiful, highly artistic and exceptionally sharp. As the era changed from Edo to Meiji, many of Seki's swordsmiths shifted to the manufacture of household cutlery. The conviction behind the praise that Seki swords "do not break, do not bend, and cut well" has been firmly handed down to modern cutlery making. The "Sekimagoroku" series bears the mark of the 27th-generation Kanemoto, swordsmith Mr. Magoroku Kaneko, and conveys that sharpness to the present day while making the most of the artisan's skills.

★Exceptional sharpness from edge finishing by skilled craftsmen
★Wet flat front edge finishing: delicate edge finishing is possible with an extremely fine grinding wheel. Because water is applied to the grinding wheel during the process, a drop in hardness due to frictional heat can be avoided.
★Stainless three-layer steel: the blade material is high-hardness stainless cutlery steel and the cladding material is stainless steel that is easy to sharpen, delivering both sharpness and ease of sharpening.
★Welded bolster: with no seams, this is a hygienic specification in which moisture and dirt are less likely to accumulate.
★Laminated reinforced wood handle with an excellent fit; full-tang specification with a good weight balance.
★After use, promptly remove dirt and moisture and dry the knife. Leaving dirt or moisture on the knife may cause rust or discoloration.

※This knife can be used by both right-handed and left-handed users. Left-handed users can also use it.
※Not suitable for use in a dishwasher or dryer.

■Handle
Made of laminated reinforced wood, which has a premium feel and excellent strength. Its rounded shape also provides an excellent fit. Highly durable, with a full-tang specification and a good weight balance that resists fatigue even during long periods of use.
■Bolster
The bolster joining the blade and the handle is welded and polished, creating a welded bolster in which moisture and dirt are less likely to accumulate.
■Blade
High-carbon stainless cutlery steel is used for the blade material, delivering keen sharpness and lasting edge retention. Stainless three-layer steel that is easy to re-sharpen.■Edge finishing
Edge finishing can be performed with an extremely fine grinding wheel, achieving a delicate cutting performance. Since a drop in hardness caused by heat can also be avoided, the edge can be finished while maintaining high hardness.
