What is Sekimagoroku (Seki-Mago-Roku)
The origin of Seki-Kaji (Seki forging) dates back to the Kamakura period, when swordsmiths moved from Kyushu to what is now Seki City, Gifu Prefecture (Mino) and began making swords in this region blessed with high-quality clay, water and charcoal. Many famous swords were produced there, and the master craftsman "Seki no Magoroku" (Seki-no-Magoroku) devised a unique forging method, giving the world supreme blades of great beauty and artistry with outstanding sharpness. As the era changed from Edo to Meiji, many of Seki's swordsmiths turned to manufacturing household cutlery. The conviction behind Seki swords, praised as "unbreakable, unbendable and sharp," has been faithfully handed down to today's blade making. The "Sekimagoroku" series name comes from the 27th-generation Kanemoto, swordsmith Magoroku Kaneko, and conveys that cutting performance to the modern day while keeping the master's techniques alive.

[Caring for your knife] After use, apply a neutral detergent to a sponge, remove any dirt, rinse, wipe off moisture thoroughly with a dry cloth, and store in a place with low humidity.

[Re-sharpening your knife] No matter how fine a blade is, it will gradually deteriorate unless proper maintenance is carried out at the right time. When a ripe tomato gets crushed instead of sliced, or chicken slips and cannot be cut cleanly, it is a sign that re-sharpening is needed.
So that you can use your KAI knife with confidence for many years, a professional re-sharpening service by KAI (paid) is also available, so please contact our store. (Products from other manufacturers cannot be accepted.)
